Fertilization Programs and Turf Care
Our fertilization program provides the essential nutrients that your lawn needs to grow strong and healthy throughout the season. With the correct application of fertilizer paired with weed and insect control products to your lawn helps promote lush, green growth and also aids in disease and pest resistance. Our standard program implements six strategically planned applications.
Fertilization Program
Round 1 - Crabgrass pre-emergent to prevent annual grassy weeds and slow-release fertilizer.
Round 2 - Crabgrass pre-emergent to prevent annual grassy weeds and slow-release fertilizer.
Round 3 - A balanced blend slow release granular fertilizer. During this round we apply a treatment to prevent turf damaging grubs and surface insects. Broadleaf weed control applied as needed.
Round 4 - A balanced slow release granular fertilizer to assist with the grass bouncing back from the stress of summer. Broadleaf weed control applied as needed.
Round 5 - A phosphorus rich fertilizer to stimulate deep root growth before the winter months.
Turf Care
Core Aeration
The process of perforating your lawn to increase the flow of oxygen, water, and nutrients to plant roots. Aeration alleviates soil compaction, prevents excessive thatch buildup, and loosens soil so that roots can dig deeper and grow more densely.
Overseeding
Overseeding is planting new seed on top of your existing lawn. It is a routine part of lawn maintenance that keeps lawns thick and healthy year-round. If you haven’t overseeded your lawn in a while, it could naturally be thin and bare because of not doing so. In the same way, when you kill weeds but don’t replace the space with new grass, you’re omitting a large part of the process that helps develop a healthy, thick lawn that can naturally crowd out weeds.
Top Dressing/Composting
The process of adding a layer of nutrient rich compost to your lawn to improve the soil. For beautiful grass, you need beautiful soil. Healthy soil is full of earthworms and ‘good’ insects, as well as healthy bacteria and microorganisms. Good soil is damp, not compacted and allows the grassroots to easily travel through it to deeper water sources.
Soil Sample
Soil sampling is the process of taking a small sample of soil, which is then sent to a lab to determine the nutrient content. A soil test can also provide valuable information on soil acidity and the percentage of organic matter in your soil.
Dethatching
Dethatching is essentially a deep raking of your yard to remove excess build up of dead grass and other organic material. Removing the built up debris will allow water and nutrients to reach the soil and roots more efficiently, promoting better root growth and reducing the susceptibility to disease and pests.
